What do i want in a President

Posted in Uncategorized on February 29, 2008 by llcooljk

1. Confidence- Has to be able handle him or herself in a debate.

2. Speaking- Has to be able to speak clear and get his or hers points across smoothly and allow the listener to follow.

3. Educated- Has to be smarter than bush was for me to consider him qualified to take office.

Barack Obama

I don’t want to send another generation of American children to failing schools. I don’t want that future for my daughters. I don’t want that future for your sons. I do not want that future for America.”

Issues

1. My only issue i have is they must be against the war and want to send all of the troops home ASAP !

Barack Obama

When I am this party’s nominee, my opponent will not be able to say that I voted for the war in Iraq; or that I gave George Bush the benefit of the doubt on Iran; or that I supported Bush-Cheney policies of not talking to leaders that we don’t like. And he will not be able to say that I wavered on something as fundamental as whether or not it is ok for America to torture — because it is never ok… I will end the war in Iraq… I will close Guantanamo. I will restore habeas corpus. I will finish the fight against Al Qaeda. And I will lead the world to combat the common threats of the 21st century: nuclear weapons and terrorism; climate change and poverty; genocide and disease

Right now Obama is the most Qualified president might not have the experience but is hands down the best for the job.

Americans are tuning out the world

Alkman writes a pretty accurate passage  about  the world.  I feel  that the he is totally right when he say that there are two community’s in the world Americans and  the rest of the world. If you think about all foreign countries try and mimic are lifestyle to the way we shop to the way we eat. Alkman also says in this passage that more than 20 million immigrants have entered our country in the past 45 years. Which really surprised me because that is more immigrations than we had in the first three decades of the 20 century. if you think about i our economy well advanced than other countries around the world.  All we see on the news is how good or how bad our economy is and when they finally talk about other countries it is usually how they are struggling. It really just makes America look so much better than everybody else. overall this was a very interesting piece and i strongly agree with it.

Argument Paper part 1-Globalization good or bad for the world

Posted in Uncategorized on February 20, 2008 by llcooljk

Globalization good or bad for the world

Globalization is the sharing of ideas, culture, jobs, and media from one country to another. The effects of globalization can be described as a process by which the people of the world are unified into a single society. I personally feel as though we are divided as a country on the topic of globalization. Many countries believe that globalization interferes with their customs and traditions. A prime example of this would be china. Until recently china was a domestically ran country, but even china could not resist the benefits of globalization. Europeans societies have explores the mysterious Asian continent and found many cultural developments far superior to their own. Without the help of curiosity and globalization we could not grow and develop as people we could not evolve as mankind. We would not have the technology that we are blessed with today we could not have the medicine that saves life’s every year. So as you can see globalization is our future.   Globalization is a beneficial movement to help create a more sophisticated and well rounded world through the sharing of ideas and culture.

Imagine a world without television, without radio, or without entertainment. Congratulations you have just witness a world without globalization. I have always felt that Americans were bullies as far the markets are concerned we always have a hand in major trades in the world. Which is one of the main reason our country has remained such a successful superpower in the world. Some may say that we our over stepping our boundaries and should hold back on some of our influences in other countries. But it’s not the case I think that we should take every opportunity we can get to share ideas and influences on other countries.  As an American I feel that we strived to have an open trade market with everyone. We have prospered in the past with trade of our goods. There is pretty much a McDonalds in every county. We have also supplied tons of jobs for other countries.

Globalization is plain and simple the sharing of ideas learning from friends and teachers is just as much globalization as trading with china. Clothing style, automobiles and media are all examples of the sharing of cultural products from nation to nation. Honda, Kia, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Nissan are just a handful of vehicle brands imported from other countries. So much of what we own and use are imported goods. Without globalization you can kiss most of your assets goodbye this concept of globalization creates competition and diversity between countries. Competition is proven to help create an efficient market and creates incentives to distribute a quality product.

Unification of the world has begun to come together by the establishment of the UN. The United Nations has always been a great influence of sharing culture and beliefs. They have always had the world’s best interest. It is there duty to ensure third world countries get the necessary support and information to turn that country around and make them into a more structural organization. Which is has it be one the main reasons they run such a well rounded establishment today. They are against some things too for example they told  president Bush that were against America finding weapons of mass destruction  which now looks like a good call. Overall they are well respected organization and has made globalization a success world wide.

Benjamin Barber

After September 11 America went from declaration of independents clam by Benjamin barber. this passage briefly describes how America reformed after the civil war. Africa Americans are now just recently receiving equal education. The paper jumps to advertising company’s and how it helps those that it can gain from. Advertising company will pay for any good that you want as long as you advertise what the company is selling. towards the the end of the passage barber proclaims that we are not nearly as invincible as we once thought. New technology has made it easy for new threats in our homeland and we fighting in other countries. He claims that the educators should change the way that education is perceived.

I personly thought this passage was way to hard to follow but had a lot good points to it. overall it was still very boring and put me right to sleep. I would recommend you read this if you are having trouble sleeping.I had to read it twice to under stand the reading but still didn’t get the whole concept.

Giddens globalisation

Posted in Uncategorized on February 8, 2008 by llcooljk

Giddens Talks about the good and the bad of globalization. In which he tries to explain that the U.S. is now the sole superpower. Also saying how it that we are the cause of a lot of big corporations globally like coco-cola McDonald’s. But for the most part i felt this piece was a rather boring read and caught myself falling asleep through the text. The points he tried to get across really didn’t fit well with the rest of the passage. the only thing that really caught my attention was his calculations on  how high  a billion  dollars  is stacked up  it really amazed me that it would be  taller than mount Everest. For the most part i thought it sucked and i wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy.
