American Dream Boat

Reading the life story of K. Oanh Ha was very moving. Coming to America at six on a boat must have been tough on a young Vietnamese girl.I thought it was really funny how when she first got here all she wanted to do was be an American. But later was so in touch with her Vietnamese side. I could really relate to her with strict parents that wont let you do anything. i also used college as an escape from them. i thought it was pretty cool how she went back to Vietnam to get to know her roots where she came from. I would love to do something like that it almost seems like your filling in the pieces of your life when you go back. You also get a great sense of pride just being in your home country. overall it was a good story  i really felt a culture clash between her and her parents there strong traditions and her trying to break out of her shell and just fit in.

ya, i hear what you mean and the passage really did create a great view on how hard it is to be a F.O.B in such a different country as ours. I related to this reading personally so I was interested the whole way through the passage catching myself just trying to fit in. Great passage
